Today, DSM Engineering Materials announces the launch of a new, more sustainable version of its flagship product Stanyl®: Stanyl® B-MB (Bio-based Mass Balanced), with up to 100% bio-based content. Using the maximum possible levels of biomass-waste feedstock, it enables DSM Engineering Materials to halve the carbon footprint of this product line and, in turn, of the Stanyl® B-MB-based products of its customers. New Anti-fouling additive for the PP and PE polymerisation process – Palsgaard introduces Einar® 981 to replace existing regulatory compromised chemistry
Palsgaard has announced the introduction of an efficient new plant-based, food-grade anti-fouling additive for the polypropylene and polyethylene polymerisation process. The new product, Einar® 981, has been developed to remove severe concerns about the ethoxylated amine chemistry currently used. SABIC, Tesco, Heinz & Berry join forces in closed-loop project for Heinz Beanz Snap Pots based on certified circular PP
SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry, has joined forces with Heinz, Tesco and Berry in an innovative recycling trial in the UK designed to close the loop on soft plastic food packaging. Flexible plastic packaging collected from Tesco stores has been used to produce certified circular polypropylene (PP) from SABIC’s TRUCIRCLE™ portfolio for microwavable Heinz Beanz Snap Pots, made from 39% recycled soft plastic. The transformation of the industry towards a circular economy requires unprecedented innovation and intensive collaboration across the value chain. SABIC is at the forefront of this journey, and this latest achievement is yet another example of the company’s commitment to accelerate the change and ensure that plastic products are designed, produced, used and recycled more sustainably.

Avient Launches Two New Polymer Solutions to Support Sustainability in Automotive and Consumer Applications
Avient Corporation, a premier provider of specialized and sustainable material solutions and services, today announced new engineered polymer solutions that can improve the sustainability of automotive applications. First, two additional grades have been added to the reSound™ REC thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) portfolio. Both grades are formulated with polyvinyl butyral (PVB) recycled from automotive glass by Shark Solutions. Also announced are two new Edgetek PKE polyketone (PK) grades with non-halogen flame retardants (NHFRs). Applications for reSound REC TPEs include automotive exterior and under-hood components, while Edgetek™ PKE NHFR formulations are specifically designed for electric vehicle (EV) components, including connectors.

DuPont Sets New Standards for Functional Sustainability with Hytrel® ECO B
Today, DuPont Mobility & Materials unveiled new Hytrel® ECO B, a range of bio-based TPC-ET thermoplastic elastomers. Developed to help customers improve the environmental footprint of their products, Hytrel® ECO B grades deliver performance equivalent to those made from fossil feedstock, but with biomass content up to 72% by weight. As a result, OEMs reap the processing benefits and mechanical properties of Hytrel®, but at a lower impact on the environment and without processing requalification.

New Recyclable Hytrel® Foam from DuPont Improves Resilience, Eliminates VOCs
DuPont Mobility & Materials today announced the commercial availability of new closed-cell Hytrel® foam created via a supercritical fluid (SCF) foaming process. This fully recyclable material is the first foamed product in the Hytrel® product family. Wendy's, Berry Global, LyondellBasell Collaborate to Improve Cup Recyclability; Introduce New, Industry-Leading Clear Drink Cup
To help advance the goal of sustainably sourcing 100% of its customer-facing packaging by 2026, Wendy's is announcing a new collaboration with packaging and plastics industry leaders Berry Global and LyondellBasell. The collaboration will support Wendy's move from a selection of plastic-lined paper cups with limited recyclability to single-substrate, clear plastic drink cups that more consumers will be able to recycle – an important pathway toward circularity. Based on a mass balance approach, the cups will also use 20% ISCC-certified, recycled plastic across all North America restaurants – a quick-service restaurant industry first – with the potential to increase the amount of recycled plastic used in the future.
