Dow Corning establishes new venture in China to expand silicone rubber manufacturing, product offerings
In a move to expand its rubber manufacturing capability and product offerings to customers in Asia and around the world, Dow Corning Corporation and Dow Corning Toray Silicone Co. Ltd. (DCTS) have formed a new company, Ling Dao Silicone (Shanghai) Co., Ltd, to utilize the strong technology and capability in the rubber industry from DCTS and operates a new manufacturing facility in the Min Hang District of Shanghai.

DOW CORNING SILICONE MOLDING COMPOUNDS FOR HIGH-VOLTAGE APPLICATIONS
Midland, Mich. (November 28, 2002) ― A new generation of silicone rubber compounds has been developed for molding high-voltage insulators, surge arresters, weather sheds and other HV components. All are high-consistency rubber (HCR) products in the Dow Corning® 1600 series, designed to deliver outstanding tracking resistance over a wide voltage range, superior wet electrical performance, hydrophobic transfer and recovery, as well as good mold release and other processing characteristics.(See Table 1.)

Dow Corning to Acquire Multibase S.A.
Midland, Mich. - Dow Corning Corp. today announced its intent to acquire Multibase S.A. of France, a leading independent thermoplastics compounder serving the automotive, appliance and packaging industries. The Board of Directors for each company has approved the plan. Final approval by Multibase shareholders is expected in April, with the acquistion expected to be finalized by April 30. Certain government approvals in Europe are required prior to the completion of the transaction as well.
