Dow Corning to Acquire Multibase S.A.

The combined company will be a leading supplier to growing industries that value differentiated thermoplastic/elastomeric materials and solutions

Midland, Mich. - Dow Corning Corp. today announced its intent to acquire Multibase S.A. of France, a leading independent thermoplastics compounder serving the automotive, appliance and packaging industries. The Board of Directors for each company has approved the plan. Final approval by Multibase shareholders is expected in April, with the acquistion expected to be finalized by April 30. Certain government approvals in Europe are required prior to the completion of the transaction as well.

Multibase is a leading polymer compounding firm providing customized compound solutions, tolling service and product development, with global customers in the automotive, household appliances, packaging, construction, and the sports and leisure markets. Multibase has production facilities in France, the U.S., and India, and sales offices in Brazil and China. Multibase owns a large variety of proprietary polymer compound products including the following: Multi-Flex® thermoplastic elastomers; Multibatch® mineral filled polyolefin masterbatches; and Multi-Pro® polyolefin compounds.

The Dow Corning Plastics team has global customers in the automotive, appliance, packaging, wire and cable, construction, and sports and leisure markets. The team provides sales and service throughout Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

Dow Corning has two families of ultra-high molecular weight (UHMW) siloxane additives for the plastics industry: Dow Corning® MB Masterbatch Series Additives and Dow Corning® Si Powder Resin Modifiers. In addition, Dow Corning has a new line of high performance thermoplastic elastomers based on proprietary technology that combines the high temperature elastomeric performance of silicone rubber with the melt reprocessability and thermal and chemical resistance of engineering thermoplastics: TPSiV™ Materials.
