Corbion Purac intends to construct a 75kTpa PLA production plant
Corbion Purac will accelerate its thrust into the biotechnology arena, making the next step in the bioplastics value chain by becoming a PLA producer. With entry into PLA, Corbion Purac intends to bring new biodegradable solutions to the plastics industry, and increase global PLA production capacity by a further 75 kTpa.

World's first PLA bioplastic touch screen computer from SUPLA and Kuender at K 2013, based on lactides from Corbion Purac
SUPLA, who announced plans for a 10 kT polymerization plant earlier this year, has developed optimized PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) compounds for the consumer electronics industry based on lactides from Corbion Purac. The launching application is the world's first bioplastic touch screen computer, developed in cooperation with Kuender, an OEM/ODM for many brand customers. The high gloss housing of this computer is made from high heat PLA. Corbion Purac, the global leader in lactic acid and lactides, will showcase this computer at K 2013.

Corbion Purac and Innovia to develop temperature stable, transparent PLA films
Innovia Films, a leading global manufacturer of Biofilms, and Corbion Purac, a global leader in lactic acid and lactides, are joining forces to develop PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) film that is both transparent and resistant to higher temperatures. High heat PLA was brought to market following dedicated research efforts by Corbion Purac. As a result, Innovia recognized an opportunity to work together to further develop a transparent, heat resistant PLA film.

Closing the loop: Purac promotes recyclability of biobased PLA
Purac - a leading company in lactic acid based bioplastics - has sponsored the Perpetual Plastic Project to highlight how easily Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) bioplastic can be recycled. PLA drinking cups were provided by Purac; intended for use at events where people can immediately recycle them into new products after use. The project is designed to educate people on the recyclability of bioplastic, in order to close the loop and promote a circular, biobased economy for future generations.

Purac supports Biobased Kidshouse with PLA roof insulation

On 4 June 2012 a Biobased Kidshouse, sponsored by Purac, was opened by the Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation. The Biobased Kidshouse is an initiative of BE-Basic, an international public-private partnership, funded by the Dutch government in the field of sustainable chemistry and ecology. The Biobased Kidshouse intends to educate children with respect to biobased materials, in order to promote a biobased economy towards future generations.
