Husky offers complete in-mold labeling solution
High-quality graphics, speed and low scrap rates key advantages of new system
Global demand for complete in-mold labeling solutions for thinwall container and lid packaging is growing at double-digit rates.
The primary driver of this growth is the ability to better differentiate products through higher-quality decoration. In some cases, in-mold labeling has directly increased sales volumes by more than 30%. Processors also benefit from the elimination of separate downstream printing operations, which helps reduce inventory needs.
Husky, a long-time leader in innovative systems for thinwall molding, has partnered with key global suppliers to provide a turnkey in-mold labeling solution.
“Processors expect high-quality graphics capabilities, process simplification, and high efficiencies,” Bruce Catoen, Husky’s Vice President, Automated Systems, says. “By combining Husky molds and Hylectric machines with in-mould automation, we deliver the industry’s leading in-mold labeling solutions.”
Husky’s in-mold labeling solution provides cycle savings and a higher-quality part versus competitive systems. A label pre-positioning station decouples the label wrapping from the robot, allowing time for alignment, while a linear robot drive provides unparalleled speed and position accuracy. A collapsing take-out plate reduces clamp stroke.
The Hylectric’s large tiebar spacing provides the room for side-entry robot access and mold layout flexibility.
The Hylectric’s moving platen rides on linear bearings to ensure the mold is aligned to the robot for accurate label placement.
Customers can evaluate label performance for their particular applications by taking advantage of Husky’s container and lid prototyping system for limited volume runs and market trials.
