VICTREX® to showcase unique engineering strengths of PEEK™ polymer at Manufacturing Week 2001
Victrex plc is looking forward to welcoming visitors to Stand 9675, Hall 19 at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham for Manufacturing Week 2001. For all key markets, the company will showcase major advances in the development of both new applications and new processing methods for its PEEK™ polymer.
PEEK™ polyaryletherketone is characterised by high temperature resistance and the retention of mechanical performance at elevated temperatures; outstanding friction and wear resistance; resistance to a wide range of chemical and hostile environments; excellent fire, smoke and toxicity performance and good electrical properties.
This unique property profile, combined with inherent design flexibility and consistent ease of processing, has provided manufacturers across all industry sectors with a cost-effective replacement for machined metals in a wide variety of high performance applications. From sterilisable medical instruments, state-of-the-art semiconductor wafer carriers and fire retardant-aircraft interiors and mass transit cabling, to wear- and fatigue-resistant industrial and automotive components, PEEK™ polymer delivers long-life part quality and consistent production efficiency.
The material is easily processed by all major thermoplastics processing methods including injection moulding and sheet, profile and film extrusion. It is also ideally suited to various power coating techniques.
The Manufacturing Week exhibit will showcase the very latest developments in the use of PEEK-COAT™ for powder coating applications. Applied both electrostatically and by other methods, this innovative process provides parts with cost-efficient corrosion protection and wear resistance, even in small volume production runs.
At the show Victrex will also be showcasing PEEK™ polymer tubes manufactured by a novel process.
Commercialised parts range from components in ultra pure water systems, chemical plants and off shore oil installations, to medical, pharmaceutical and food processing applications.
