Dureal™ and Exelby Services’ agreement provides for five AdBlue filling stations serving northern England

Rotterdam, July 1, 2005 - Dureal™ a division of Univar N.V., one of the world’s largest chemical distributors, and Exelby Services Ltd, UK, have signed an agreement for the installation of Dureal AdBlue service units at five Exelby petrol stations in the north of England. These selected service stations are strategically located at Carlisle, junction 42 on the M6, at Londonderry, North Yorskhire, on the A1/M1, at Teesside on the A19 (north and south bound), and at Castleford, junction 31 on the M62.

According to Dureal Managing Director, Patrick Lammers: “These Dureal units for dispensing AdBlue will be the first to ensure a wide network of service points throughout the UK. AdBlue, in combination with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology, is becoming an increasingly popular solution with the transport industry across Europe as directed by the EU’s Euro 4 exhaust gas emission standard now coming into force.

“The introduction of Dureal dispensing equipment and AdBlue supply in England is the latest expansion of our services which are already established in Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Sweden, and which we are continuing to broaden,” he concluded.

“We are pleased to be working with Dureal on this project. It now means that transport operators will have the assurance that their Euro 4 and 5 spec vehicles can obtain AdBlue from our sites, while travelling through the North of England,” explained Mr Michael Exelby, Managing Director of Exelby Services.

The AdBlue supplied by Dureal is a high purity urea-based reaction fluid, enabling heavy-duty diesel engines become compliant with the current Euro 4 exhaust gas standards, and Euro 5 to come into effect in 2008. The AdBlue, which is injected into a vehicle’s exhaust system from a separate tank located under the vehicle, converts harmful nitrogen oxide (NOx) into nitrogen (a harmless natural constituent of the air we breathe) and water vapour, without impairing engine performance.

The system consumes approximately five litres of AdBlue to every 100 litres of diesel fuel, but due to the SCR technology upon which the system is based, engine performance can be optimised to achieve an overall reduction in fuel consumption. SCR technology has already been adopted by most of the major European truck and bus manufacturers, including DAF, DaimlerChrysler, Iveco, Renault and Volvo.

Dureal dispensing units are equipped with the unique Strong™ system that ensures the automatic, timely re-supply of AdBlue to storage tanks at service stations and transport companies, as well as monitoring fluid quality. In addition to insulated tank units with a capacity of 4000 litres for large professional users, Dureal has developed an advanced base unit for small and medium size operators, with a capacity of 1250 litres, which can be expanded with an additional 1000 litre feeder unit. Professional starter sets, based on 200 litre drums with an electric or hand pump, are also available from Dureal.

Exelby Services

The company was founded in the 1970’s by Ron Exelby, who originally devised diesel bunkering back in the 1960’s at Londonderry in North Yorkshire. This operation was expanded to include sites on the A19 near Teesside and at Carlisle on the M6. Another site was added in the early 90’s at Castleford on the M62. The company now handles over 150 million litres of diesel fuel every year through these five sites, each one specifically designed to accommodate Heavy Commercial Vehicles. The sites accept all the major fuel cards, Keyfuels, UK Fuels, Fuelserv, BP Routex to name but a few. Facilities at each site include parking facilities, a truck driver’s café, driver’s shop and gas oil for refrigerated trailers.
