Beiersdorf launches Nivea Visage box developed by Ten Cate Plasticum

A good shelf presentation with a luxury appearance, maximum user-friendliness and particular airtightness, those were the requirements set by Beiersdorf for the development of a wet tissue box for Nivea Visage cleansing wipes.

The original packaging, a foil pouch of PE/PET, could not meet these demands.

Especially the airtightness was a problem because the self-adhesive label on the pouch was not completely re-sealable. Rapid dehydration of the wipes was the consequence.

Ten Cate Plasticum solved this problem by developing a box with an airtight thermoplastic elastomer seal integrated in the lid. The lid and seal are moulded in one production step using 2K injection moulding technology to guarantee a good bonding between the materials TPE and PP. A testing period of two months showed an unchanged degree of humidity.

Beiersdorf knew the demand for user-friendliness would not be a problem for Ten Cate Plasticum since they are producing for some years now the successful Nivea Baby Care box with the so called one-touch easy opening system. A further developed patented version of this system has been applied for the Nivea Visage box and guarantees the opening of the hinged lid by pressing the button just once.

The white masterbatch with pearly effect, the compact design and the high-quality labelling, through fully automated In Mould Labelling technology, provide the desired look on the shelf as well as at the consumers’ home.
