Songwon’s new manufacturing plant in Kizad, Abu Dhabi operational
Abu Dhabi, UAE – January 22, 2016 – Songwon Industrial Co., Ltd., today announced that the new state-of-the-art joint venture manufacturing plant in Abu Dhabi is now operational.
The facility is located in Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad), owned and managed by Abu Dhabi Ports – the master developer, operator and manager of ports in the Emirate. The new plant is dedicated to manufacturing One Pack Systems (OPS) − multicomponent, tailor made blends of additives in a pelletized form and then packaged in a clean, dust free environment, ready for shipping. With an initial capacity of 7’000 MT per annum, the manufacturing facility was specifically designed to allow for future expansion to meet the increasing demand for OPS products in the Middle East region and beyond.
“This region is one of the fastest growing markets for polyolefins and already a major consumer of OPS,” says Maurizio Butti, Chief Operating Officer, Songwon Industrial Co., Ltd. “With this new facility, Songwon is in a stronger position to better meet the needs of current and future customers in the Middle East. Now we are able to offer our customers the OPS products they demand combined with all the advantages and service of a leading global supplier, with 50 years’ experience in breakthrough solutions.”
Continuing, Hans Daniels, General Manager, Polysys Additive Technologies says: “Having a plant here allows us to take full advantage of Kizad’s unique location with its port facilities and infrastructure. It also establishes a very effective hub for supplying customers across the entire region.”
Commenting about the plant’s inauguration, Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, said: “We are pleased to be providing Polysys Additive Technologies with the platform to facilitate their business growth in the region. With excellent market access through Khalifa Port, the fastest growing port in the region, world class infrastructure, integrated clustering and dedicated support services, this new facility will cater to the growing polymer industry. By substituting import to region with locally manufactured products, Polysys Additive Technologies joins Abu Dhabi Ports’ efforts towards supporting Abu Dhabi’s economic diversification.”
The new facility is part of Polysys Additive Technologies Middle East (PAT ME), the company formed by the joint venture between Polysys Industries, Pan Gulf Holding and Songwon Industrial Group. Songwon has grown to become the second largest polymer stabilizer supplier in the world and its OPS products are readily available under the Songnox® OPS brand. With an unequaled portfolio of antioxidants and UV stabilizers in a full range of physical forms, it is fully backward integrated into key raw materials, thus providing the highest levels of quality consistency and security of supply to its customers.
The new Abu Dhabi facility is the latest addition to the company’s global OPS manufacturing capability and shares identical production technology as the two other plants located in Greiz, Germany and Houston, USA.
