Konos - four conical extruders for any kind of application
With its new Konos series Cincinnati Extrusion has launched a new all-round machine concept. The Vienna extruder specialist, who has built conical
extruders for 40 years and shipped more than 6,000 units during that period, is once more presenting tangible proof of its expertise by offering the most
modern machine series on the market.
"Our Konos extruders are the most versatile and compact conical twin screw
extruder models available to processors in their respective performance classes“, Hans Berlisg, Cincinnati’s marketing director, emphasizes. As regards process tech-nology, all four models of the new series feature excellent surface properties to minimize dwell times, so that they are perfectly suited to processing even materials that are highly sensitive to shearing stress. Because of their capability to handle a wide range of applications, the new conical models are the ideal choice wherever frequent change of dies and materials is necessary. Even production processes in-volving high pressures present no problems to the plastication units and their ex-tremely sturdy drives. A special advantage, for example in the production of corru-gated pipes, is the special geometry of the screw’s rear section, which dispenses with the need for shifting downstream aggregates. Their short footprint makes these new Konos extruders, all equipped with maintenance-free, automatic Intracool® screw temperature control, also perfectly suited as co-extruders.
Although the Cincinnati specialists have lengthened the processing unit - similar to their recently optimized parallel extruder series - they have been able to keep the extruders’ overall footprint extremely short. Thanks to the longer processing unit, combined with extremely sturdy, high-performance drives, a remarkable 20% in-crease in the overall performance has been achieved, compared to the models of the previous Titan series, plus Konos 38, 50, 63 and 72, cover a performance range from 20 to 300 kg/h for profile extrusion, and from 50 to 500 kg/h for pipe extrusion.
Compared to the previous models, the new conical machines offer a substantial
improvement in the price / performance ratio. “Konos extruders are currently the most cost-efficient equipment on the market world-wide“, H. Berlisg declares.
Thanks to the EXc-PRO-XP control system, this processing equipment is quite
simple and safe to operate. At the same time, this latest-generation Cincinnati con-trol system, operating under Windows XP, offers a multitude of options that substan-tially facilitate control and monitoring of the entire extrusion process.
