SABIC Premieres in Russia at Interplastica 2008!

Moscow – January 29, 2008 – For the first time, the SABIC family of plastics businesses, including SABIC Innovative Plastics and SABIC Europe, will be showcasing its diverse plastics portfolios for key Russian industries here at Interplastica 2008, exhibiting at stand A22/28, Hall 8.3. SABIC’s presence at the event underscores the importance of the Russian market to its expanding global business strategy. Major Russian markets into which SABIC materials are sold include automotive, building and construction, electrical and lighting, pipe and infrastructure, SABIC offers Russian customers a strong local team, local supply of materials, and the extensive resources of its Global Application Technology (GApT) centers to support in-country application development.

In 2007, SABIC Innovative Plastics launched its new Russian Automotive division as part of a global network dedicated to accelerating market and application development activities for the rapidly expanding automotive industry in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

With is broad portfolio of products such as high performance resins, composites and sheet products in structural glazing, wire and cable, cladding and pipe, amongst others, SABIC is positioned to help its customers with solutions across many industries where significant investments are being made - power stations, electrical installations construction projects and utility infrastructure. “At Interplastica, SABIC will be exhibiting the latest in SABIC® HDPE and SABIC® PP pipe applications, “ said Marcel Baltus, Product Sales Manager for Russia, CIS and Baltic States, SABIC Europe. “The Russian pipe market is an extremely important growth market for SABIC, due to the strong investments and future intentions to completely renew the utility infrastructure for gas, water and sewage in the country. HDPE and PP pipe will play an increasingly dominant role in these applications due to their durability and cost effectiveness”.

On display for the first time in Russia, SABIC will showcase applications that leverage the company’s engineering thermoplastics, composites and polyolefins. These include components for automotive; electrical parts and high-end components for domestic appliances; 19.5-liter returnable water bottles made with Lexan* polycarbonate resin; pipe made with SABIC® Vestolen A and SABIC® Vestolen P and many more.
