Rhodia Launches High-Flow Flame-Retardant Technyl® Polyamide Products Specifically for Connectors
Lyon, France – 02 March 2009 – Rhodia announces the launch of the first high-flow flame-retardant range of Technyl® polyamide products specifically designed for the connector industry.
This new Technyl® range offers new high-flow products that meet the stringent Glow Wire Tests (GWT) for finished parts and which have VDE (IEC 60335-1) and UL approval.
Within Rhodia’s PA 6.6 range, three grades meet the specific needs of the appliance market by displaying exceptionally stable GWIT performance, as required by the IEC 60335-1:
• Technyl® A 32G1, UL94 V2, antimony trioxide free (ATO free), displaying extremely robust GWIT performance up to 900°C.
• Technyl® A 30G1, UL94 V0, displaying good GWIT and excellent GWFI performance.
• Technyl® A 60G2 V30 is a halogen, red phosphorus and ATO free high flow PA 6.6 product that has excellent all-round flammability performance with proven end part performance.
These three new products from Rhodia complete one of the largest EP fire resistant offering designed for the connector industry. Rhodia supplies reinforced or un-reinforced PA 6, PA 6.6 and PA 6.6/6 UL94 V0 rated grades, each displaying excellent all-round properties. These grades are based on high-flow, fast cycling PA 6 and PA 6.6 polymer technology using both halogen and halogen-free additives to obtain the correct fire resistant performance.
The Technyl® range for connectors also consists of filled and unfilled heat stabilised PA 6 and PA 6.6 grades that meet USCAR class IV requirements, and ultra fast cycling unfilled UL94 V2 PA 6.6 grades (Table 1).
