Interplas maps out a bright future

The UK’s leading plastics and rubber show, Interplas, has now booked its space at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, for October 7-9, 2008. Interplas is also looking at exciting opportunities for 2006 and 2007 that will compliment the 2008 show.

Chris James, Interplas Marketing Manager, says that ‘we are delighted to be able to communicate Interplas’ long term future in this way. Response and support for Interplas 05 has already been such that we are now able take steps to map out the long term future of the exhibition and give the sector a really solid framework for its future sales and marketing.’

With just under a year to go until Interplas 2005, support from leading plastics and rubber institutions has been generous and unstinting: British Plastics Federation Chief Executive Peter Davis notes that – ‘there is no other global platform with the potential to deliver a UK plastics audience. We can now expect to see far more designers, specifiers, end-user buyers and engineers all walking the aisles at Interplas, alongside the traditional processing audience.’

Frank Davis, Managing Director of injection moulding machinery supplier Arburg UK says that ‘Interplas is THE platform for accessing the UK and Republic of Ireland Markets. Changes at the NEC, Birmingham and the new package prices have really made Interplas the most cost effective way to meet customers.’

And Julia Moore, Chief Executive at the Gauge and Tool Makers Association (GTMA) adds ‘the fact that we have already fully booked our Group Stand one year ahead of Interplas 05 demonstrates the very positive feeling the industry has for the importance of this exhibition.’

The Interplas 2008 exhibition date is intended to help service the long term planning and marketing interests of the industry and to also give the plastics and rubber sector some added value in the shape of two new linked Interplas events planned for 2006 and 2007. The ideas for 2006 and 2007 are being researched with exhibitors and visitors to determine the level of interest – but we hope to be able to announce dates and a venue for 2006 and 2007 shortly.

James adds that ‘the primary reason that the Interplas exhibition – now entering its 51st year and 20th edition – will always continue to succeed is that it is simply the best possible way for the sector to get down to business.

Interplas, for example, remains the prime source of sales and business leads for UK plastics and is also the main spur for customer spending on new plastics technology and for capital investment in plastics equipment.’

Another reason that Interplas continues to work, notes James, is that it continues to resource UK plastics with the innovations that it needs. Next year’s package, for example, will include the three new Market Zones for plastics in the automotive, packaging and medical areas of business.

Interplas Market Zones will provide a focus and a jump start for plastics processors to get to the markets and customers of their choice. ‘The primary purpose of the Market Zones,’ says James, ‘is to help attract the best possible visitors and customers to the show for that niche; match them together and then allow them to get down to business with each other as effectively as possible.’

Interplas 05 and the Penton Media manufacturing exhibitions are also exhibiting alongside each other next year. The move significantly enlarges the audience for Interplas 05 – at the same time, attracting increased numbers of quality purchasers and engineers to all events. The five Penton shows – Design Engineering Show, Computers in Manufacturing (CIM), Time Compression Technologies, Inspex and Tooling will now take place alongside each other and Interplas 05 at the NEC, Birmingham on October 4-6, 2005.

Interplas 05 will be staged in Halls 4 and 5 of the NEC and the Penton exhibitions will be placed next door in Halls 3 and 3a. Visitors to the co-located shows will benefit from free and seamless access to all the exhibitions.
