“Interplas 2005 introduces new features, new visitors, new customers, and cost-effective solutions for the plastics industry”

Interplas 05 is set to rejuvenate the UK plastics sector next year with a mixture of new features, new visitors, customers, and cost-effective solutions for the industry’s suppliers of goods, services and equipment.

Ian Crawford, Interplas 05 Exhibition Director says that ‘Interplas - now entering its 51st year and 20th ‘edition’ has grown up with UK plastics and has been a constant resource for the industry over this time. Whatever the business climate, Interplas has been there to serve the sector: to provide UK plastics with its main forum for trade; its prime source of sales and business leads, and the main spur for customer spending on new plastics technology and capital investment in plastics equipment.’

Crawford adds that ‘Interplas 05 will be no exception to this pattern. Above all, we recognise the tough business climate for UK plastics manufacturing and our need to work within this setting. Much of our innovation for Interplas 05 is therefore taken up with maximising the cost effectiveness for the exhibitor and also with providing innovations and features that will bring additional kinds of customer and new kinds of business to the show.’

Crawford says that ‘more than ever exhibitors need value for money. And from the start our campaign has encouraged exhibitors to ‘right size’ their requirements in terms of area and overall stand spend. We also continue to work in great detail on our visitor data and profile; making sure to target and attract the right kind of people to the exhibition. Each step of the way we involve the industry and its trade associations via our Interplas Action Team which meets on a regular basis to progress the issues.’

Confidence in the Interplas 05 approach and format has been boosted by the appetite of the industry for the new features, including the creation of three new Market Zones and the addition of more business-to-business features that will be announced in the coming months.

‘Thanks to our early door pre-registration policy,’ says Interplas marketing manager Chris James, ‘automotive customers such as Renault, Ford, Aston Martin and Bentley have already signed up to visit Interplas 05.

We feel that visitors of this calibre deserve to have a path beaten to their door. The newly created Automotive Market Zone in Hall 5 is our response. It will provide a high-quality venue, with ambience, catering and plastics know-how transfer to match. It will raise the bar for the plastics automotive business that takes place at Interplas and the medical and packaging zones will do the same.’

The three Market Zones at Interplas 05 provide the most value-added work available for plastics processors. ‘Their primary purpose,’ says James, ‘is to help attract the best possible visitors and customers to the show. Once there, the specially designed spaces will help them and their exhibitor suppliers to better focus on doing business in the most appropriate setting.’

The physical space within the three new zones will be divided into exhibition areas, high-quality catering and a high-tech conference space that will be able to broadcast outside the 60 seat capacity venue seated.

The emphasis for each Market Zone is placed firmly on top-end customer attractions, quality hospitality and ‘must-see’ conference material and sector knowledge transfer: ‘We shall ensure,’ says James, ‘that each new Market Zone is home to the leading edge in information and seminar content, covering technical, commercial and production know-how and transfer.’

Each of the new Market Zones will be sponsored by a limited number of partners from the supply industry including companies in materials, machinery, ancillary equipment and moulding.

Interplas, exhibition director, Ian Crawford says that ‘for the right supplier this Market Zone Partnership is clearly a ‘must have’ position at Interplas.’ Interest has been immediate and leading materials distributor, Distrupol, has already decided to take a stake in the Medical Market Zone.

Crawford also notes that ‘Interplas gives the Market Zone Par
