New on-line granulator cost evaluation tool from Rapid
Friedrichshafen – Rapid Granulators AB has launched a new, easy to use on-line return on investment (ROI) and cost evaluation tool for granulators on the company’s website www.rapidgranulator.se. After entering a few production parameters and granulator specifications, the programme calculates granulator payback time and lifecycle costs, allowing moulders to have a better understanding of the possible material and other savings that can be achieved by using regrind of sprue and rejects, in addition to virgin material.
“Investing in a granulator is always a smart move, considering the long-term savings on raw materials and other benefits,” said Bengt Rimark, Marketing Manager, Rapid Granulator. “What most users don’t realise, is that the purchase price of a granulator is generally less than 20% of its total lifecycle costs, whereas running costs represent the balance of over 80% of the total costs. Our on-line tool clearly points that out.”
Rimark continues: “When choosing a granulator, one should check for characteristics that help to bring the overall lifecycle costs down, such as minimal energy consumption, easy and fast access for cleaning and maintenance, reinforced parts to reduce wear and tear, as well as features that minimize dust. This underlines the importance of selecting a high-performance granulator that minimizes operational costs and produces the high quality regrind that can be directly channelled back into the production cycle without affecting product quality.”
