Owens Corning Focuses on Composites Growth in Veil Technologies

Expansion of Apeldoorn Veil Facility is Key to Global Growth Strategy

Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, 4 September, 2003 – Owens Corning announced today the opening of a €30 million manufacturing expansion to its composites Veil Technologies Facility in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. Designed to support the company’s global growth strategy in the specialty non-wovens market, this addition doubles the capacity of the facility’s supply of glass non-woven mat to the worldwide customer base. The company’s executive leadership team, local and international dignitaries, customers and employees of the facility were in attendance for the grand opening ceremony.

Owens Corning is a leading global provider of specialty non-wovens to the construction and composites industries. “Key growth drivers for this business are focused product innovations and continuous market driven application development,” said Raymund Trost, vice president of OC™ Veil Technologies. Trost added that the new line features the latest innovations in non-woven process technologies, providing increased capabilities to service customers on a global scale.

This investment has also increased the Apeldoorn workforce by approximately 30 percent. In addition to the new production line, the expansion also includes a new warehouse and office accommodations.

Owens Corning Launches Multiple Composite Offerings at JEC 2003

PARIS, 1 April 2003 – Owens Corning’s Composite Solutions Business is introducing six new composite products at the 2003 JEC, including three Single End (Type 30®) rovings, OC® FM 8686 continuous filament mat, OC® VL 8101 glass reinforcement mat and an OC™ Veil Technologies reinforced composite core. Biography David T. Brown, President & Chief Executive Officer Owens Corning

David T. Brown was named Owens Corning’s president and chief executive officer effective April 19, 2002. Preceding this appointment, Brown was the chief operating officer for the company, where he was responsible for all operating businesses of Owens Corning worldwide.

Biography Raymund Trost, Vice President and General Manager DUCS, Veil Technologies and Telecommunication Solutions Composite Solutions Business Owens Corning

Raymund Trost was named general manager of Owens Corning’s Veil Technologies and Telecommunication Solutions segments in July of 2000 and vice president in January 2002. In January 2003, Trost was also charged with the oversight of Owens Corning’s Global Dry Use Chopped Strand (DUCS) business segment.
