GLEN H. HINER CHAIRMAN AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OWENS CORNING

Glen H. Hiner has been chairman and chief executive officer of Owens Corning since January 1992. His vision has focused the company on expanding its leadership in the building materials and composites industries, with an emphasis on growth and profitability.

Under Mr. Hiner’s leadership, the company launched its System Thinking™ business strategy in 1996 to drive sales by shifting its focus from individual products to system-driven solutions. While maintaining its commitment to customer satisfaction, individual dignity and shareholder value, Owens Corning has grown increasingly diverse in recent years, entering new markets with both products and services.

Mr. Hiner joined Owens Corning following a 35-year career with the General Electric Company, where he led GE Plastics from 1978 until 1991. A native of Morgantown, W. Va., Mr. Hiner holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from West Virginia University and received an honorary doctorate in science from his alma mater in 1989. The Society of the Plastics Industry gave Mr. Hiner its highest honor – the Dan Fox Lifetime Achievement Award – in 1994. He also received an honorary doctorate in humane letters from Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., in 1997.

Mr. Hiner serves as a member of the Board of Directors for The Dana Corporation, The Prudential Insurance Company of America, and Kohler Company. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees for the Toledo Symphony.
