Perfectly shaped thermoforming films from Mondi Styria
Mondi Styria GmbH has been producing high-quality barrier films for a wide range of applications for over 25 years. The key strengths of Styria Form and Styria Therm thermoforming and lidding films include excellent formability and high residual wall thickness. Mondi Styria films are also attractive in appearance, with good transparency, thus enabling differentiation at the POS. The company holds numerous certifications, reflecting its emphasis on quality and competence.
Vienna, May 2014 – Mondi Styria GmbH in Zeltweg, Austria, has over 50 years of experience in the conversion of flexible plastic packaging material. It has been producing special laminates for the food industry and technical applications for over 25 years, with an emphasis on customised solutions. Its coextruded films undergo ongoing optimisation in house and are suitable for wide-ranging applications thanks to the use of advanced technology. A special structure with up to 14 layers ensures uniform thickness distribution and high residual wall thicknesses in the corners. This also allows material usage to be reduced.
Mondi Styria’s latest barrier films – which offer outstanding temperature resistance, making them ideal for sterilisation processes – have enhanced individual outer and sealing layers. As a result, the product can be precooked in the packaging, which is advantageous with many kinds of vegetables and also prolongs shelf life. The raw materials used and the special layer structure also make the film highly puncture-resistant, which is essential with sharp-edged products such as bread rolls. The film’s properties ensure that the packaged bread rolls reach the store in fresh and sound condition. Moreover, processing of the film only requires low sealing and forming temperatures, enabling customers to achieve significant energy savings.
“We are very proud of our highly specialised production site,” says Günter Leitner, Managing Director of Mondi Styria GmbH. “To serve our customers in the best possible manner, we attach great importance to comprehensive consultancy and quality certifications with regard to hygiene, safety and the environment,” he points out. “Our application engineers are always available to our customers to provide assistance with testing and machinery problems,” he concludes.
Styria Form and Styria Therm films both have excellent barrier properties against oxygen, water vapour, gas and aromatics, and are suitable for modified atmosphere packaging (MAP). For enhanced appeal at the POS, a range of additional features such as antifog, peel and pigmentation are also available. These barrier films are perfect for a wide range of applications including meat and sausage, boiled ham, fish, cheese, vegetables, bread and bakery products as well as potato products.
