Husky and Cold Jet form exclusive partnership to offer mold cleaning systems
Dry ice blasting technology complements Husky’s industry-leading PET solutions
BOLTON, Ontario – Husky Injection Molding Systems, the world’s leading solutions provider for PET preform molds and equipment, has signed an exclusive agreement to offer its customers Cold Jet’s line of dry ice blast cleaning systems, the companies announced today. The agreement expands the range of products and services Husky offers to help customers maximize the performance of their preform systems.
Cold Jet’s dry ice blasting technology eliminates the need for labor-intensive scrubbing and the use of harsh chemicals, making it a safer and more cost-effective method for cleaning PET molds.
“Mold cleaning can be a time-consuming process, particularly for high-cavitation molds,” Mike Urquhart, Husky’s Vice President of PET, said. “By using Cold Jet’s system, our customers will find a fast and easy cleaning solution that will help them significantly reduce system downtime and improve productivity.”
Cold Jet’s system uses dry ice particles that are propelled at high velocities to blast contaminants from the mold surface. Using Cold Jet’s system can often decrease cleaning time by 50 to 75%. And because the dry ice evaporates on contact, there is no run-off, rinsing or drying required. Cold Jet systems do not damage or change the dimensions of the mold surface, thereby ensuring consistent part quality.
Cold Jet’s T-2 system is a cost-effective solution for general cleaning requirements, while the AeRO 75 is a heavy-duty system that is ideal for more aggressive cleaning requirements, including machine components. Cold Jet currently has over 200 customers in the PET industry.
“Cold Jet is pleased to announce our relationship with this industry leader,” said Gene Cooke, President and CEO of Cold Jet. “We are confident that our T-2 and AeRO 75 systems will deliver the most robust cleaning solutions to Husky’s customers.”
Husky is the world’s leading manufacturer of PET molds and production systems, with the most clamp and injection unit combinations in the industry. Husky’s HyPET, Index and IndexSB production systems can be tailored to meet the needs of any application and volume.
