HUNTSMAN INTRODUCES NEW VERSATILE TIOXIDE®TR88 PIGMENT - AN ATTRACTIVE BALANCE OF PROPERTIES
Huntsman Pigments introduces TIOXIDE®TR88 pigment, a new versatile rutile titanium dioxide (TiO2) pigment in Huntsman’s classic TIOXIDE® range. This versatile pigment offers excellent durability, outstanding brightness, opacity and colour and has been developed specifically for use in low volatile organic compound (VOC) formulations for the decorative coatings market.
Versatility
TIOXIDE®TR88 pigment has been designed for use in a wide range of paint formulations for both interior and exterior decorative coating applications, including wood finish and masonry paint. Interior applications include emulsion and solvent-based paints in either matt or semi-gloss finishes. Exterior applications include emulsion and solvent-based paints, silicate paints and plasters.
Low VOC
The market for high quality, low VOC decorative paints with longer service lives is continuing to grow due to the increasing costs of maintenance painting and rising consumer and contractor expectations. Using the most suitable TiO2 pigment is a critical factor in the success of such paints. TIOXIDE®TR88 pigment has been carefully designed for use in low VOC formulations to help manufacturers meet demanding solvent emission regulations.
Weathering
Huntsman has optimised the surface treatment design of TIOXIDE®TR88 pigment and classes the pigment as “highly durable”. TIOXIDE®TR88 pigment provides industrial levels of resistance to weathering (loss of gloss & colour fading) allowing paint manufacturers to design high quality products with excellent colour retention and durability.
Brightness, opacity and colour
Trace elements in TIOXIDE®TR88 pigment have been minimised to provide superb colour integrity. The pigment has excellent brightness, opacity, tinting strength and tint acceptance in a wide range of paint systems.
TIOXIDE®TR88 pigment is a versatile, highly durable TiO2 pigment that allows paint manufacturers to design high quality products for target applications. TIOXIDE®TR88 pigment has an attractive balance of properties including excellent colour & opacity and good resistance to weathering in a range of low VOC water-based and solvent-based paint formulations.
