Honeywell Europe Names Commercial and Sales Manager for the Enovate™ 3000 (HFC-245fa) foam blowing agent
Honeywell Fluorine Products Europe has appointed Björn Hofman as Commercial Manager, EMEA, , for the Enovate™ 3000 blowing agent, developed for the foam processing market. Hofman will report to James Harris, Managing Director of Honeywell Fluorine Products Europe and will be working out of the Leuven office in Belgium.
Francesco Lucarelli , Sales Manager Southern Europe, (Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Israel, Turkey) joins the Enovate 3000 team and will report to Hofman.
Hofman and Lucarelli will be primarily responsible for the commercialisation of Enovate™ 3000 in the European market. Their initial responsibilities will include the introduction of this next-generation blowing agent, Enovate™ 3000 (HFC-245fa) in polyurethane foam applications.
Enovate™ 3000, Honeywell’s non-ozone depleting blowing agent, is proving to be an exceptional alternative for a number of industries. Enovate 3000 delivers superior insulation performance, is non-flammable and is easy to handle. It is designed primarily to replace hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC)-141b, which is used in a variety of rigid (insulating) foams and is due to be phased out in Europe during 2002-2004 because of its ozone depleting characteristics.
“Enovate 3000 is finding an ideal fit where improved energy efficiency and non-flammabilty are required. Applications include, spray foam used in roofing and construction applications, board stock foam used in construction, foam used in insulated transportation vehicles, cold-storage and water heaters plus other insulating foam applications like refrigerators and freezers. Honeywell’s R&D and Technical Service Group is committed to product development and improvement. We are working closely with the industry to develop Enovate 3000 and continue to discover viable new applications,” commented Hofman.
Hofman will concentrate on the commercial introduction of Enovate™ 3000 blowing agent for the foam business. Additional responsibilities will include the development of HFC-245fa in other industrial applications. HFC-245fa is, for example, under development as a potential refrigerant, and as a solvent and industrial aerosol application solution.
Hofman holds a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering (1992, Delft University of Technology). After several manufacturing positions within DSM, he was appointed as Site Manager of the Weert (Netherlands) facilities of Honeywell Fluorine Products Europe in 1998.
Mr. Lucarelli, who joined Honeywell in January, is responsible for managing the Enovate™ 3000 market in Southern Europe.
“We’re working to develop market awareness of Enovate™ 3000’s superior properties which include thermal insulation and non-flammability delivering improved energy efficiency performance and safe handling.”said Lucarelli. “Semi-commercial quantities of Enovate 3000 are now available for trials, and we are supporting customers with our technical expertise to help the foam industry complete effective conversions.”
Honeywell confirms that its new full-production commercial Enovate 3000 manufacturing facility in Geismar, Louisiana, is on-target for start-up in the 2nd half of 2002.
Besides his role in the Enovate 3000 team, Lucarelli is the product manager for the sterilants business in Europe. He is based in the Milano office in Italy.
After graduating with a degree in chemistry, Mr. Lucarelli worked at Faravelli Spa, and Italian distributors of chemicals and specialties. There he was responsible for chemical and polymer product development for new applications.
