Honeywell Fluorine Products Europe appoints Technical Service Representative Foam Blowing Agents
Honeywell Fluorine Products Europe has appointed Mr. Tiziano Roveda as Technical Service Representative for its European foam blowing agents business, effective October 1st, 2002. In this role, Mr. Roveda will work closely with the company’s global technical support team to assist customers in Europe as they phase out ozone-depleting hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) blowing agents in polyurethane and extruded polystyrene insulating foam applications.
Based in Milan, Italy, Mr. Roveda will report directly to Mr. Björn Hofman, Commercial Manager Enovate™ EMEA. Previously with EniChem and The Dow Chemical Company, Mr. Roveda brings broad technical experience in polyurethane foam systems and applications, including rigid foam, self-skinning (integral skin) foam, and footwear. He is therefore well qualified to assist Honeywell customers with value-added product and application development programmes, as well as providing world-class technical support.
In his new role, Mr. Roveda, will heavily support the market introduction of Honeywell’s line of blowing agents, including Enovate™ 3000 (HFC-245a). Enovate 3000 is a non-ozone depleting, non-flammable foam blowing agent that is designed primarily to replace HCFC 141b, which will be phased out in Europe in the 2002-2004 timeframe.
Honeywell, one of the world’s largest producers of fluorocarbons, has developed Enovate 3000 to meet the needs of a wide range of applications where insulation efficiency, structural stability, non-flammability and ease of handling are key requirements. These include rigid insulation foam for refrigerators and freezers, spray foam used in roofing, board stock foam for construction and other rigid foam applications. Furthermore, ongoing product development is focused on its use as a refrigerant and as a solvent and industrial aerosol solvent application solution.
A dedicated production facility for Enovate 3000 began commercial operation in early August 2002, in Geismar, Louisiana. The $130 million plant, sized to meet global demand, is the culmination of a ten-year investment programme by Honeywell.
