Turkey’s glass industry took to the water on September 18th

Bertrange, Luxembourg, October 7, 2015 – “Float glass” took on another meaning briefly on September 18th, when key members of Turkey’s glass industry joined various officials of Guardian Industries Corp. for a leisurely boat ride on the Bosphorus straits in Istanbul.

They say that calm waters can look “like glass.” That may have made those cruising the Bosphorus straits in Istanbul on September 18th feel right at home. Key members of Turkey’s glass industry joined various officials of Guardian Industries Corp. that day for a leisurely boat ride on those storied waters.

Guardian®, a leading manufacturer of high-quality commercial, residential, interior and automotive glass products, hosted the tour for clients and other prominent glaziers, architects, fabricators and the like from the building/façade sector from across Turkey. Besides the company’s Turkish team, among those attending from Guardian Europe were Lance Altizer, Vice President of Marketing; Hubert Kopf, Sales Director; Gabor Andrasi, Commercial Manager, and Andrey Stolney, who as General Director of Guardian Steklo Services leads Guardian’s operations across Russia and the CIS.

“We view this as a great opportunity to gather here and bring together some of Guardian Europe’s key sales and marketing team members with our valued clients and leading professionals of the glass business in Turkey. We have come a long way as Guardian in Turkey and we plan to keep growing.” said Mustafa Akça, General Manager - Turkey & Central Asia.

Guardian has been active in Turkey since 1999, and the country has developed into a very important region for the glass giant. Turkey is now firm’s second-largest market in Europe, after Russia. Guardian already covers a significant part of commercial projects in Turkey and is taking steps to further increase its presence there. The Guardian Turkey team has grown accordingly and moved into new headquarters in Ataşehir, İstanbul.

So far in Turkey, Guardian has focused on its SunGuard® Solar Protection Glass, which has been used effectively in many leading and well-known projects across the country. SunGuard, made using Guardian’s advanced sputter-coating technology, is an extremely versatile glass that offers advantages in aesthetics, economics and energy efficiency. It is available in a wide variety of colors and performance levels, and the coating can be combined with laminated glass to provide protection against storms or security threats.

Independent studies have proven that SunGuard glass can significantly cut energy use (which also can help builders to earn LEED points for their project.) Learn more at www.sunguardglass.com.tr.
