ECMSA is the association of planners, marketers, researchers and business intelligence professionals in the chemicals and allied industries responsible for shaping and defining its future and direction.
ECMSA is a not-for-profit organisation run by the industry for the industry. Its members exchange ideas, knowledge, experience and opinions through a neutral forum. ECMSA offers them access to a network of tools, resources, industry contacts and an accumulated data-bank of relevant industry case histories and best practice models.
Membership is open to practitioners, senior managers in the Industry and also consultancies and businesses serving the industry.

Competitive Intelligence In Action
The European Chemical Marketing & Strategy Association (ECMSA), EMP Intelligence Services and CIBT are joining forces in May to present a management briefing and workshop in Amsterdam on the changed European competitive intelligence scene. The briefing and workshop mirrors a successful event held in Birmingham, the UK, in September 2005. They are designed to help participants understand in greater detail the complex competitive background to the European chemical industry that involves regional players, global integrators and competitors from emerging markets. Chemical companies are often competing for share in markets in which growth is low or negligible and in which accurate competitive intelligence is vitally important.

China Experience From Those Who Know
The joint ECMSA (European Chemical Marketing and Strategy Association) and CWD (Chemical World Database) held March 15th in Brussels, “Pros, Cons and Experiences of the China Investment Boom” provided a significant industry audience with genuine insight into the issues facing European chemical suppliers when engaging with the Chinese market. Told by those with hands on experience of working in China, there was sound advice on the options and key components of a successful strategy, balanced against the every day obstacles encountered in developing participation. The speakers also offered perspective on the myths that have developed around the Chinese experience, most notably around the competitive threat presented by Chinese manufacturing and the future prognosis for market growth and profitability.

Strategies in China March 15th conference programme finalised
Brussels, February 7th 2005, ECMSA (the European Chemical Marketing and Strategy Association) and CWD (Chemical World Database) today announced the final programme for a one day conference in Brussels on 15 March 2005 which explores Strategies For The Chemical Industry in China. The conference will be held under the auspices of the European chemical industry council, Cefic, and supported by The Boston Consulting Group.

Brussels December 21st, ECMSA (European Chemical Marketing and Strategy Association) and CWD (Chemical World Database) announced that they will run a one day conference in Brussels on March 15th 2005 to explore the chemical industry’s experiences of China. Focusing on the actual experience of those businesses that have ridden the China investment boom and the prospects for consumer driven demand for chemicals the conference will set out to explore the pro’s and con’s associated with investment in China. The conference will be held under the auspices of CEFIC and with the support of the VCI. This event is being organised by the chemical industry for the chemical industry.

ECMSA back on the European Map
Brussels, December 6th 2004 European Chemical Marketing & Strategy Association (ECMSA) president Fred du Plessis addressed association members at the 2004 AGM. Originally established in 1962 as ECMRA (European Chemical Market Research Association) and renamed in 2000, ECMSA as been greatly impacted by the restructuring and consolidation within the chemical industry over the last several years.
