Dispersogen® ACP 120 combines efficiency & toxicological benefits in one

Muttenz, 15 November 2011 - Clariant supports the Agrochemical industry’s drive for more environmentally-friendly, efficient and easy-to-process crop protection formulations with the launch of the unique, multi-benefit dispersing agent Dispersogen® ACP 120.

The most recent addition to Clariant’s portfolio of polymer based dispersing agents for the agrochemical industry, Dispersogen® ACP 120, provides a combination of features as yet unattainable with one product.

The benchmark-setting acrylate based anionic copolymer combines high efficiency at low use levels with an excellent toxicological and environmental profile. Its full range of features is:

Highly efficient - Dispersogen®ACP 120 can efficiently stabilize pesticides in suspension concentrates at very low use levels (0.1 – 1.0%).

Easy and safe to handle - The product is provided as a low viscous solution in water with an active content of 40% and does not contain additional solvents.

Free of hazardous labeling - Dispersogen® ACP 120 is a low risk co-formulant.

EPA exemption filed - Clariant has filed an EPA exemption from the requirement of a tolerance.

Excellent partner for saline herbicides - The product is very stable in the presence of electrolyte based active ingredients like Glyphosate or 2,4-D.

Dispersogen® ACP 120’s unique package of technical properties brings multi-functionality benefits to formulators, by enabling the formulation of combinations of active ingredients that are traditionally difficult to achieve.

For example, suspension concentrates with improved wetting properties can be created by using Dispersogen® ACP 120 together with Dispersogen® PG, Clariant’s dispersing adjuvant based on renewable resources. Dispersogen® PG acts as wetting and secondary dispersing agent in the suspension concentrate and is a low risk inert ingredient with no hazardous labeling. The combination results in significantly lower surface tension and improved wetting performance.

The excellent stability of Dispersogen® ACP 120 in the presence of high amounts of electrolytes means it can also be used to formulate stable suspension concentrates using saline herbicides. This is particularly relevant for applications requiring a second herbicide in the tank-mix, such as when targeting novel approaches to control glyphosate-resistant weeds.

“Environmental and efficiency trends are increasingly influencing the agrochemical market and therefore the choice of formulation ingredients. Dispersogen® ACP 120 with its unique combination of benefits was developed specifically by Clariant in response to this, to create new opportunities for crop protection formulators to achieve tomorrow’s formulations today,” comments Andreas Wacker, R&D Manager Crop Protection, Clariant.
