New Infrapark Baselland to start up in 2011

 Perfect infrastructure in the border triangle of Switzerland-Germany-France
 Particularly appealing for companies in the chemicals and life science industries
 Clariant-Switzerland’s Country Manager Spitz: excellent opportunities for the Muttenz location

Muttenz, November 24, 2010 – The Swiss specialty chemicals group Clariant is transforming its 37-hectar company premises in Muttenz into a completely new industrial park. Around 16 hectars of the area will be available to interested companies that may want to settle there. “Infrapark® Baselland” is scheduled to start up at the beginning of 2011. In addition to Clariant, other companies such as PanGas and Bayer, as well as Aprentas, the training association of the Basel chemical and pharmaceutical industry, are already operating on the land of the future industrial park. The new industrial park will be appealing primarily for research and manufacturing companies from the chemicals and life science industries. Situated in the Basel region and thus in the border triangle of Switzerland-Germany-France, it offers an area that has been perfectly developed for road, rail, ship and air access. With its comprehensive range of services from a single source, Infrapark Baselland, which remains under Clariant’s ownership, will offer all the benefits of an industry location unique in Switzerland.

The new industrial park will constitute a production compound with significant synergy effects, thus offering considerable cost-saving potential for the companies located within its perimeter. At the same time, many end users are located in the immediate vicinity. Frankfurt-Hoechst in Germany, with over 90 companies and 22 000 employees, is a good example of the development opportunities that such an industrial park can present.

Renaud Spitz, Country Manager of Clariant Schweiz AG and Manager of the Infrapark Baselland, which will be an independent business unit of Clariant Produkte (Schweiz) AG, declares: “On January 1, 2011, a new era with significant opportunities will begin for the industrial site of Muttenz: an open industrial park, an appealing new home for interested companies, will be created on long-established traditional company grounds. We offer our clients all the services necessary for successful research, development and manufacturing activities.”
