NEW BARINATE™ B-70 OVERBASED BARIUM SULFONATE:
SUPERIOR CORROSION INHIBITION, DETERGENCY AND RUST PROTECTION

Chemtura Corporation (NYSE: CEM) takes anti-corrosion chemistries to new levels of effectiveness as it launches Barinate™ B-70 Overbased Barium Sulfonate worldwide. Chemtura is also selling high-efficiency Oxpet™ Corrosion Inhibitors in North America for the first time.

“New Barinate™ B-70 provides superior corrosion inhibition, detergency and rust protection,” says Naureen Stone, Marketing Manager, Industrial Lubricants. This high-molecular-weight, oil-soluble, overbased barium sulfonate is recommended for formulations where acid absorption is a potential requirement, along with a high level of rust protection.

Says Stone: “Barinate™ B-70 has excellent inherent demulsibilty characteristics, which provide high levels of corrosion inhibition, along with detergency, in formulating industrial lubricating oils and other engineered protective products.”

Nominal dosages would range from 0.1 to 5.0 wt. % of the finished lubricant. Barinate B-70 is compatible with most mineral base oils, white oils, and synthetic base stocks.

At the same time, Chemtura is introducing Oxpet™ Oxidized Petrolatum Corrosion Inhibitors to North American customers. Sold for years in European and Asian markets, Oxpet™ Corrosion Inhibitors are used in formulations as a rust preventative for industrial steel applications, such as shipping containers and large steel coils. Now North American customers gain a new supply option for one of their most critical additives.
