TRUMPF Customers Benefit from Guaranteed Maximum Communication Availability

Neckartenzlingen - February 23, 2016 - Belden Inc., a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, has demonstrated how a customized Hirschmann OpenBAT wireless solution enables the remote communication capability for TRUMPF.

TRUMPF is a global high-technology company and world technological and market leader for machine tools used in flexible sheet metal processing, and also for industrial lasers. Its products and services are used in the manufacture of the most diverse products. In order to guarantee the highest reliability to its industrial customer base, TRUMPF selected a tailor-made industrial Wireless LAN solution from Belden. Hirschmann OpenBAT-R provides highly available mobile wireless access for the flexible, cost-effective operation and service of their machines.

When customers buy a machine from TRUMPF, they can add additional communications applications. Customers, who order these, will have their machines equipped with a wireless operation point, which consists of the Hirschmann OpenBAT-R and the corresponding antenna. The OpenBAT-R operates as an access point, generating a wireless network for the mobile devices that are using one of the special TRUMPF apps. The highly robust Hirschmann OpenBAT-R provides maximum stability and security for the application, using its integrated Clear Space technology and HiLCOS software. This enables TRUMPF to guarantee its customers an innovative solution with maximum Wireless LAN (WLAN) availability in the production plant.

Thanks to the easy configuration of the devices, the application can be offered and installed on new orders or provided as a retrofit solution for existing machines.

Channel partner YELLO NETCOM joined with Belden to provide TRUMPF with first and second level support during the project implementation.
