Gearhouse Broadcast chooses Belden CDT cabling for Qatar stadium projects
Gearhouse Broadcast has chosen high performance electronic cabling from Belden CDT for installations at three new sports stadiums under construction in Doha, Qatar. All three stadiums will be used for the Asian Games Doha 2006.
Approximately 500 kilometres of cabling will be used to complete the installation work which began in September 2005. Belden CDT selected a variety of low smoke, zero halogen jacket cables to ensure optimal performance for the Gearhouse team. The UK branch of Belden CDT worked to a tight timescale, with some cables having to be made specifically for the project because of the large quantities required.
Eamonn Dowdall, managing director Gearhouse Broadcast UK, said: “When undertaking an installation in a sports stadium, the most essential element is the cable. After all, the quality of the signal is fundamental to the quality of the broadcast. High-quality cabling is essential to ensure broadcasters can be confident of sending a clear picture to the viewers. With Belden CDT’s cables we can be certain of a good result.”
“Broadcasting is an important market for Belden CDT,” comments Werner Eich, Marketing Manager Entertainment Europe for Belden CDT. “And we appreciate the pressure on installation companies to get it right. TV and radio stations want to turn up to an event, plug-in and deliver a quality signal, and to that end we worked closely with Gearhouse for the Doha stadiums to determine the most appropriate cabling for their needs.”
