FASSON DURABLES RANGE ENHANCES FLEXIBILITY OF ELECTRONICS LABEL CONVERTER
Leiden, The Netherlands – Avery Dennison Roll Materials Europe launches a dedicated range of adhesives and face materials, to answer the growing demand for long-life product identification labelling of electrical appliances. The addition of the range means that Avery Dennison Roll Materials Europe is able to offer the full, one-stop-shop for all labelling requirements.
This range simplifies and streamlines the selection of labelstock for warning and track-trace labels. Components for these applications are subject to the most stringent criteria, because they have to perform throughout the product’s life-time.
Fasson Durables provides the fast and flexible answer to specifying labels for extreme environment challenges, such as chemical resistance, exposure to extreme temperatures, UV light and difficult substrates. Products are available in quantities from only 300m², with delivery lead-times from 72 hours. This enhances the converter’s ability to offer a competitive service in value chains where low, frequent, fast deliveries are the norm.
Adhesives in the range have been proven to meet the challenges of durable labelling. Emulsion-based acrylic adhesives include the all-purpose Fasson S333, combining high initial tack with low adhesive ooze, and the new Fasson S8020, offering excellent UV-resistance and good performance on apolar substrates.
Solvent-based acrylic adhesives include the high-resistance Fasson AL170, specially for automotive uses, and the Fasson S8015, ideal for plastic, rough and slightly oily surfaces.
The range comprises a comprehensive list of face-stocks. These include a number of polyesters with excellent tear strength and heat resistance, PVC outdoor white with potential for seven-year use, matt or white polyamides proven to withstand ultra-high temperatures, as well as security labelling solutions like ‘void’ and ultra-destructible film.
UL-APPROVED PRODUCTS
A substantial number of components in the range are UL (Underwriters’ Laboratories) approved products for adhesive permanence or thermal image legibility, for indoor or outdoor use. These would typically have to offer exceptional resistance to conditions such as heat, humidity and water.
Many of these products have been available and have enjoyed a proven performance record in the Americas and Asia. The launch of the range gives European converters the first opportunity to specify these materials.
Sample rolls are also available so converters can source small quantities for test situations. This presents savings especially for converters who supply the automotive markets, in which most components – including labelstock – are subject to an approval process before they can be used.
Ulrike Stiffel, business development manager durables Avery Dennison Roll Materials Europe, comments: “By creating the new range, Avery Dennison Roll Materials Europe is meeting the needs for enhanced flexibility of deliveries and faster turnarounds in this highly specialised, yet fast-growing market.”
The number of components found in a typical automobile has been on the increase because of more sophisticated engines, and extra gadgets and devices that enhance in-car safety, comfort and convenience. At the same time, there is a fast adoption of new-generation media and telecoms appliances. These products all depend on durable labels like warning signs to meet safety standards, or track-and-trace applications for efficient logistics control.
Ulrike Stiffel adds: “We have been consulting our narrow-web customers to make sure that whatever their labelling requirements, We have the innovative solution that helps them source the products they want – faster, in the right quantities and to the highest possible quality standards. The launch of Fasson Durables has made our aim to offer the one-stop-shop label service, across all end-user markets, a reality.”
