Attachmate Announces the Release of
NetWizard v5.0

Attachmate Corporation, a provider of enterprise information access and management software, today launched NetWizard® v5.0, the latest version of its rapid-deployment, desktop management system. NetWizard offers integrated functionality for desktop software and hardware inventory, software distribution and installation, usage metering, license administration, remote control, and policy management.

Specifically designed for complex, geographically distributed organizations, NetWizard scales to accommodate any number of desktops. It can also be custom-tailored and implemented to fit an organization’s unique desktop management requirements and environment. NetWizard features a simplified management interface, in addition to fault tolerance and recovery capability.

“NetWizard provides administrators with more centralized control, which is significant in time- and cost-savings,” explained Markus Nitschke, Attachmate’s vice president of marketing. “NetWizard allows you to collect software version and hardware information, automatically upgrade outdated programs, and monitor usage of those programs for license compliance – easily and cost-effectively.

As customers roll out new software and updates, NetWizard sends only relevant data or updates as needed, so the impact on network bandwidth is minimized. Microsoft Active Directory® integration eases administrative tasks because NetWizard can detect whether a network client is already a member of an Active Directory organizational structure, so it can automatically map and integrate this existing structure onto the NetWizard management interface.

NetWizard v5.0 enables users to collect, display, and export Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) inventory data. NetWizard’s Package Editor also eases administration of MSI files with command-line build support for the distribution and launch of Windows Installer applications.
