Wood-polymer Composites European partnership agreement between Arkema and Beologic
Arkema and the Belgian company Beologic announce the signature of a collaboration and marketing contract in the wood-polymer composite sector.
Arkema, Europe’s vinyl compound leading player, will market Beologic’s wood-polymer composites in Europe via its sales network.
Beologic, which in just a few years has become a major player in the design and development of wood-polymer composites, will handle the manufacture of these materials.
In a market with a 15% to 20% annual growth in Europe, these products are used to manufacture outdoor decking and siding, furniture, packaging, and automotive interior components.
Wood-polymer composites can be processed using traditional plastics converting equipment (extrusion and injection molding processes), and machined using woodworking equipment.
These materials offer remarkable properties (rigidity allowing major weight reductions, ageing and weathering resistance, resistance to seawater, etc.). Additionally, they are bio-resourced in a typical 50 to 80 % ratio, and fully recyclable.
