Akcros Chemicals Invests in the Production of Solid Stabilisers
As part of its strategy of meeting the growing demand for PVC Stabilisers combining high performance with low volatility and odour, Akcros Chemicals will invest in increased production of the INTERLITE® ZP range of solid mixed metal soap stabilisers at its Eccles, UK, facility.
Long established in medical and food related applications, significant improvements in performance of the INTERLITE® range now make them suitable for more demanding technical applications in plasticised PVC. Usually Calcium/Zinc based, they offer the additional benefit of being Lead, Barium and Cadmium free.
“This is an excellent move to strengthen our PVC additives business” confirms Jeff Simmonds, SBU Manager for PVC Additives. “The Eccles site has proven to be a sound manufacturing base over the years and this strategic investment in the production of the INTERLITE® ZP solid stabiliser range here reinforces our commitment to remain a major player in the PVC additives industry. When coupled with our efficient production sites in Greiz, Germany and New Brunswick, USA, we are now well positioned in both the European and American markets”.
As a further benefit of this investment, Akcros Chemicals will concentrate the production of INTERLITE® solid stabilisers by transferring production of those products currently manufactured at the Dahlem (Germany) site. European production of Akcros PVC Additives is now centred on two sites only, Eccles (UK) and Greiz (Germany).
“Having those products under fewer roofs makes good commercial sense” explains Eccles Site Manager, Terry Hill. “It means that Eccles and Greiz each manufacture almost the full range of Akcros PVC Additives.” Akcros also produces PVC Additives in New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA.
