University study validates the benefits of Afa's new Flairosol™

Consumer research conducted by the Technical University of Delft in The Netherlands, one of the top ten innovation management universities in the world, confirms that Flairosol™ ImPress provides a unique and appealing liquid dispensing solution for users within the household chemicals and air care markets.

The extensive user study identified user- and eco-friendliness, spray performance and attractiveness as the top benefits consumers can enjoy with Flairosol in comparison to trigger sprayers and aerosols. Developed by Afa Dispensing Group (Afa), a world leader in technologically advanced liquid dispensing systems, the Flairosol dispenser is non-pressurized and operates without the need for propellant gases. It dispenses fluids in a very fine, mist-like spray.

The innovative packaging solution was put through its paces by 50 participants of various demographic groups, who tested and evaluated Flairosol both on location and at home over a 10 day period. Its appearance and usage was compared to trigger sprayers filled with household surface cleaner and aerosols containing an air care formulation. Significant findings include:

  • When compared to aerosols, 76% believe the Flairosol functions equally well or better than aerosols; 82% when compared to triggers.

  • 98% of users find Flairosol equally or more eco-friendly than aerosols, while 96% of users consider it important that Flairosol has no propellant gases.
  • 94% of participants appreciate and are willing to use the replacement bottles. Users found it easy and convenient to use replacement bottles.

  • 88% of users find the 360 degree spray important: a crucial attribute for personal care and automobile care products.

  • After use 94% of users find Flairosol equally or more attractive than aerosols, while 90% compare it favorably to triggers.

These test results indicate that Flairosol meets and exceeds the expectations of consumers in comparison with commonly used dispensing systems. They emphasize Flairosol’s viability as an effective alternative that bridges the gap between triggers and aerosols; offering the fine spray of aerosols with the ease and convenience of trigger sprayers.

The highlighted features are relevant considerations for brand owners that want to spray their liquid evenly over larger surfaces without the use of aerosols, especially for air care, pet/animal care, sun care and automotive care products. This creates exciting opportunities for companies to enhance their brands by differentiating their products visually on the shelf and by offering relevant features that consumers appreciate.

“We are delighted to see that the Delft University results not only support but exceed what we have believed all along - that Flairosol draws on and combines the benefits of aerosols and trigger sprayers in a functional, attractive and sustainable solution,” comments Dennis Stevens, Executive Vice-President, Afa Dispensing Group. “This is truly remarkable for a new spray package that users have no prior experience of – it indicates that Flairosol is very intuitive to use and adopt.”
