SABIC to feature at PCIM Asia first commercial application of ELCRES™ HTV150A film in capacitors
SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry, will highlight at PCIM Asia 2024 (in Hall 11, Booth H03) the first commercial application of its high-heat ELCRES™ HTV150A dielectric film. Japan’s Nichicon Corporation used this ultra-thin specialty film to develop high-temperature, high-voltage, commercial-quality capacitors for AC-DC traction inverter modules in electric vehicles. This technological breakthrough addresses industry demand for advanced film capacitors that can enable more-efficient AC-DC power modules.

SABIC displays breakthrough solutions for energy storage and distribution at The Battery Show Europe 2024
SABIC, a global leader in the chemicals industry, is unveiling its newest thermoplastic solutions for batteries, electric vehicle (EV) technologies and energy storage here at The Battery Show Europe (Booth D10, Hall 8). They include a thermoplastic-metal DC-DC converter housing for EVs and a high-voltage battery pack enclosure. In these and many other applications, SABIC materials’ design freedom and high performance can help customers cut weight, reduce manufacturing complexity, enhance safety and extend service life.

SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry, today announced its collaboration with Cybershield, Inc., a U.S. supplier of metalized plastic components, to advance the use of plated ULTEM™ resins in aerospace applications. Through this collaboration, which will be featured at the upcoming NPE2024 and the 2024 Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX), SABIC’s team shared with Cybershield their extensive expertise on injection molding of high-heat ULTEM resins. This training prepared Cybershield for successfully molding ULTEM 2310 resin into backshells for electrical connectors that are well suited for use in used in audiovisual (AV) control modules for commercial aircraft.

Yuanqing (Emily) He, Ph.D., senior business manager for LNP copolymers at SABIC Specialties, will speak on May 6 at 3:00 p.m. on the Innovation Stage in the West Hall (Booth #W2380). She will describe how improved resistance to harsh chemicals provided by LNP copolymers can help prevent or mitigate environmental stress cracking that may lead to premature failure. Application case studies from the healthcare, mobility and consumer electronics industries will illustrate the exceptional performance of these materials. Dr. He will also highlight a path to offer ISCC+ certified renewable resins, which can help reduce an application’s carbon footprint, while providing the same properties.

This specialty material features enhanced scratch and mar resistance and a high-gloss surface finish to provide the automotive industry with a new molded-in color solution for exterior components. LNP ELCRES SLX1271SR resin also delivers exceptional weatherability, continuous UV stability and good mechanical performance. By adopting this new solution, customers can leverage the environmental and potential system cost advantages of paint elimination while maintaining the attractive appearance of exterior parts over time.
