SABIC’s new LNP™ LUBRILOY™ compounds extend portfolio of non-PTFE lubricated materials
SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry, today announced here at MD&M West 2024 (Booth #3287) a significant expansion of its LNP™ LUBRILOY™ portfolio of internally lubricated specialty compounds. The new LNP LUBRILOY products can meet customer demands for high-performance alternatives to materials lubricated with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), which is a per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS). These new grades extend SABIC’s LUBRILOY technology to additional base resins and feature a novel, patented lubrication technology enabling OEMs to help avoid health and regulatory issues associated with materials containing intentionally added PFAS.

SABIC debuts higher PCR content LNP™ ELCRIN™ copolymer resin with enhanced performance
SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry, today launched a new portfolio of 10 LNP™ ELCRIN™ copolymer resins that can reduce carbon footprint while delivering desirable performance properties and aesthetics. Adopting these polycarbonate (PC)-based copolymer materials, which contain up to 75 percent certified post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, can help customers advance their sustainability initiatives without sacrificing key attributes. Compared to competitive impact-modified PC resins containing PCR content, which can have performance limitations, the new LNP copolymer resins deliver high performance across the board. Depending on the grade, they may provide low-temperature ductility, chemical and weathering resistance, good flow for easy processing, transparency, a broad color space, UV stability and thin-wall flame retardance (FR) meeting the UL94 V-0 rating at 0.6mm.

This 30 percent glass fiber-reinforced copolymer resin, a featured product offered under the company’s BLUEHERO™ electrification initiative, is the first polymer used in electric vehicle (EV) battery systems to receive UL Verification for marketing claims of thermal and mechanical performance. UL Verification, based on an objective, scientific assessment by a respected third party, can give customers high confidence in the flame delay performance of this product.
