The company’s ability to provide “one-stop shopping” enabled LSG Sky Chefs and Norduyn to create a new line of ultra-light in-flight trolleys that can help reduce aircraft fuel consumption and emissions. LSG Sky Chefs is the world's largest provider of in-flight services. Norduyn is a designer and manufacturer of innovative galley and cabin product solutions for commercial aviation. The trolleys, launched at the Aircraft Interiors Expo and displayed at SABIC Innovative Plastics’ stand #7A48 – and also at Norduyn’s and LSG Sky Chefs’ stands – feature UV-resistant Ultem* resin for the extrusion profiles and door latch, and tough Noryl* resin for the frame and other components.

BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – May 27, 2010 – Weight reduction for both fuel and systems cost savings remains a long-haul strategy for the airline industry, and has opened up another major development opportunity for SABIC Innovative Plastics and its customers. The company has created a new high-performance compound based on aerospace carbon fiber technology coupled with Ultem* polyetherimide (PEI) resin, creating a space-age solution to replace heavier airline-grade die-cast and machined aluminum for aircraft interiors components, slashing weight by up to 50 percent. Vaupell, a global contract manufacturer of custom injection-molded components and assemblies with 60 years of experience, is working with SABIC Innovative Plastics to validate the new Ultem resin materials in aircraft seating components

BERGEN OP ZOOM, The Netherlands – May 27, 2010 – Here at the Aircraft Interiors Expo, in Hall B, Booth 7A48, SABIC Innovative Plastics today announced five new high-performance thermoplastic materials specifically designed for aircraft interiors, and is showcasing its robust industry-leading portfolio of advanced resin and sheet technologies. These new high-end products are helping global aircraft OEMs reduce weight by up to 50 percent to conserve fuel and lower emissions; meet tough flame-smoke-toxicity (FST) regulations; reduce overall system costs; and enhance the aesthetics, safety and comfort of the cabin environment. A strong and long-term commitment to the aircraft interior sector, together with some of the most advanced and timely materials solutions, enables SABIC Innovative Plastics to meet customer needs in a challenging and dynamic business environment.

• Sales up 16% in local currencies and 13% in CHF on the back of improved demand
• Operating income before exceptional items rose to CHF 183 million compared to CHF –13 million a year ago on higher capacity utilization and lower costs
• Operating income margin before exceptional items reached 10.1%
• Cash flow from operations reached CHF 159 million after CHF 156 million in the first quarter 2009
• Outlook: For the full-year, Clariant expects sales in local currencies to increase in the mid single-digit range and an operating margin before exceptional items above the 2008 level of 6.6%. Cash flow from operations will remain strong.
