ComPETe : un atout compétitif pour PolyOnesur le marché européen du PET
DÜSSELDORF, le 25 octobre, 2001- PolyOne annonce le lancement en Europe d'un nouveau type de mélanges-maîtres de coloration. Le verre étant de plus en plus remplacé par le PET (poly[téréphtalate d'éthylène]) pour la fabrication des bouteilles de boissons et produits cosmétiques, l'industrie recherche et développe de nouveaux mélanges-maîtres de coloration. Les colorants concentrés (ou mélanges-maîtres) sont traditionnellement produits par dispersion d'un pigment dans un polymère, suivie d'une mise sous forme de granulés de 2 à 3 mm de diamètre. Pour les applications de grand volume comme les bouteilles en PET, ces granulés se sont avérés une excellente solution de remplacement des compounds colorés dans la masse, plus coûteux.

Les usines européennes d'additifs couleurs de Tossiat et d'Assesse (PolyOne) obtiennent la certification QS-9000
PolyOne a annoncé que la certification QS-9000 a été délivrée à deux nouveaux sites européens. Les usines, toutes deux productrices de concentrés de couleurs, implantées à Tossiat, France et à Assesse, Belgique, semblent être parmi les premières dans la branche européenne des additifs et mélanges maîtres à avoir obtenu cette certification de l'industrie automobile.

Le PET : un atout écologique pour l'emballage
D'après la récente législation allemande, les bouteilles en PET non-consignées et recyclables sont préjudiciables à l'environnement. Le Dr Bram Opschoor, qui contribua à la mise au point de la bouteille en PET pour les boissons gazeuses il y a près de 30 ans, exprime ici son opinion. De 1968 à 1975, le Dr Opschoor a travaillé chez Akzo Plastics. Il est aujourd'hui conseiller technique auprès de PET Container Recycling Europe (PETCORE).

New investment confirms Vopak’s E&E division as the leading bulk solvents distributor
Vopak Chemical Distribution Europe has announced the completion of a major expansion of its Cadishead bulk solvents terminal near Manchester, United Kingdom, further confirming its leadership position in this market sector. The terminal, which has benefited from an investment of £2.5 million, is operated by Chemitrade the bulk solvents division of E&E Ltd., formerly Ellis and Everard, acquired by Royal Vopak and becoming part of the Vopak Chemical Distribution unit in January of this year. The facility is purpose built to handle BASF oxygenated solvents following the distribution deal agreed between E&E and BASF in early 2000.

Anstead International appoints Business Director
David Jones has been appointed Business Director of Anstead International effective from 1st November 2001, replacing Kim Morrison who is leaving the company. Anstead International, part of Royal Vopak following the acquisition of Ellis and Everard in January 2001, has grown rapidly in recent years to become a leading raw material supplier to the personal care and pharmaceutical industry in the UK.
