Fiske Food Ingredients to operate the most advanced distribution centre in Europe
Fiske Food Ingredients, the leading UK specialist distributor of food and beverage ingredients, has completed a € 1 million investment programme that will advance its Milton Keynes, UK, headquarters to the most modern distribution facility of its kind in Europe. Fiske is the dedicated food industry distribution arm of Royal Vopak .
The new Fiske headquarters, which satisfies the most stringent food industry standards, occupies the former site of Vopak’s Univar distribution operation, merged with complementary activities of Ellis and Everard following the acquisition in January of this year.
This site, which has been designated a totally non-hazardous area became operational in September. It provides a consolidated base for Fiske’s sales and technical support staff, in addition to a 40,000 ft 2 (3715 m2) dedicated logistics facilities that will handle the largest range of ingredient products currently available from any industry supplier. Moreover, strategically positioned on a main UK road network, it is ideally located as a hub for Fiske’s fleet of delivery vehicles.
At the same time the company has activated a new ERP system that replaced the two different systems previously in place. Importantly, the new system will allow integration with its Ironside eCommerce platform enabling customers to place and track orders online.
