Omnexus Advances Speed Of Online Procurement With New User-Driven Enhancements
Orders with New Template Processed in As Fast As 30 Seconds
ATLANTA - December 12, 2001 - Drawing from direct user feedback to enhance its order placement process, global plastics eMarketplace Omnexus has further accelerated the speed of procurement processes for the plastics industry, the company announced today. Now available, the enhanced ordering system widens the timesavings gap even further between Omnexus and traditional fax- and phone-based order methods.
Input compiled from Omnexus users and several member suppliers resulted in a revised template design that minimizes order screens and speeds the flow of order input. The Omnexus technology and customer service groups began compiling feedback on its eProcurement platform soon after the eMarketplace's initial launch last year, in line with the company's policy of continuous improvement. Transactions conducted with the new system have been processed in as fast as 30 seconds, with immediate order confirmation sent to the user's desktop for acknowledgement. Actual times will vary by user, depending upon connectivity and other user-specific conditions.
"The new Omnexus order template is going to be a big time saver for us, on top of what we've already seen since we first moved from our old fax- and phone-based system to online ordering through Omnexus," said Al Wilson, Materials Manager, from ITW Fastex, a manufacturer of plastic fasteners, components and other products. "It is a more natural process, and even more user-friendly."
Minimal Set-up Leads to Long-term Savings
Plastics buyers making the transition from traditional ordering processes to the more efficient online method find a small upfront investment in time can promptly produce significant cost and time savings for their companies.
A recent report from the Aberdeen analyst group estimates that a mid-sized company can expect to save $2 million annually by switching to online procurement.* Additionally, once ordering preferences and other required information have been registered, the simple training necessary to use the new Omnexus order template quickly allows new users to cut individual transaction times to as fast as 30 seconds.
"Omnexus is an innovative company that maintains traditional values, highest of which is a commitment to being customer-focused and customer-driven," said David Jukes, senior vice president of Omnexus. "Because of our users' enthusiastic, straightforward feedback, we have been able to make online ordering an even faster process, moving the plastics industry further away from the less efficient older methods of phone and fax."
Offering products, services and plastics industry information from more than 20 global suppliers, Omnexus boasts the largest supplier commitment among any e-business in the plastics industry.
