SilCool* TIG 210 BX thermal management grease from Momentive Performance Materials provides a reliable and cost-effective solution for automotive electronic applications.
LEVERKUSEN, GERMANY — NOVEMBER 6, 2008
Thermal management is becoming increasingly important for automotive electronics as under-the-hood temperatures continue to rise and the amount of electronics is growing. Hybrid cars are particularly affected. Engineers are looking for cost competitive thermal management solutions that can remove the heat from increasingly sensitive electronic components. Thermal greases are often considered but due to concerns about “bleed-out” and long term reliability, engineers may end up selecting higher cost options. Momentive Performance Materials recently introduced SilCool TIG 210 BX, a thermally conductive grease that provides “low bleed” and low thermal resistance for applications where thin bond lines are required. In addition to thermal conductivity (2.1 W/mK), this material offers stable performance, which is typically required for automotive applications, such as an engine control unit. The images (MPMPR025a) show the “low bleed” performance and the thermal shock stability of a 45° mounted test specimen.
