DÜSSELDORF, 25 de octubre de 2001 - PolyOne ha anunciado el lanzamiento de un nuevo tipo de concentrado de color (masteratch) en Europa. A medida que el PET (tereftalato de polietileno) sustituye cada vez más al vidrio en las botellas y recipientes de los mercados de bebidas y cosméticos, se investiga más en concentrados de color nuevos. Hasta ahora, los concentrados de color (o masterbatches) se hacían dispersando el pigmento en un polímero y convirtiéndolo en gránulos de entre 2 y 3 mm de diámetro. Para aplicaciones de gran volumen, como las botellas de PET, estos gránulos ofrecían una alternativa excelente y eficaz a los caros compuestos precoloreados.

Las plantas europeas de aditivos de color de PolyOne sitas en Tossiat y Assesse consiguen la certificación QS-9000
PolyOne ha anunciado la certificación QS-9000 de dos más de sus instalaciones europeas. Se cree que estas plantas, ambas productoras de concentrados de color y situadas en Tossiat (Francia) y Assesse (Bélgica) son las primeras del sector europeo de masterbatches que consiguen esta certificación.

PET: Envasados con ventajas medioambientales
La reciente legislación alemana considera que la botella de un solo uso de PET reciclable es ecológicamente desfavorable. El Dr. Bram Opschoor, que contribuyó al desarrollo de la botella de PET para bebidas carbónicas hace casi treinta años, opina al respecto. Entre 1968 y 1975, el Dr. Opschoor trabajó para Akzo Plastics. En la actualidad es Asesor Técnico de PET Container Recycling Europe (PETCORE).

New investment confirms Vopak’s E&E division as the leading bulk solvents distributor
Vopak Chemical Distribution Europe has announced the completion of a major expansion of its Cadishead bulk solvents terminal near Manchester, United Kingdom, further confirming its leadership position in this market sector. The terminal, which has benefited from an investment of £2.5 million, is operated by Chemitrade the bulk solvents division of E&E Ltd., formerly Ellis and Everard, acquired by Royal Vopak and becoming part of the Vopak Chemical Distribution unit in January of this year. The facility is purpose built to handle BASF oxygenated solvents following the distribution deal agreed between E&E and BASF in early 2000.

Anstead International appoints Business Director
David Jones has been appointed Business Director of Anstead International effective from 1st November 2001, replacing Kim Morrison who is leaving the company. Anstead International, part of Royal Vopak following the acquisition of Ellis and Everard in January 2001, has grown rapidly in recent years to become a leading raw material supplier to the personal care and pharmaceutical industry in the UK.
