URMOND (NL), 22 September 2010 - The seismic research vessels “Ramform Sovereign” and “Ramform Sterling” are equipped with towing and spreader ropes made from Dyneema® ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber. These are among the latest in a large fleet operated by Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS), one of the world’s leading offshore services companies. The Ramform Sovereign and Ramform Sterling each deploy up to 20 seismic streamers.

The decision reflected the market’s strong position on non-acceptance of anything other than first class, genuinely legitimate materials such as Dyneema® for these life-critical applications.

Through combining their expertise in synthetic fibers and rope construction, DSM Dyneema and Gleistein enabled SkySails to develop the SkySails towing kite technology. As the world’s most powerful and effective wind propulsion system, the SkySails-System reduces fuel consumption and emissions of ships by up to 35%.

URMOND (NL), 1 September 2010 - Power lines connecting the large Chinese island of Zhoushan across an important shipping lane are being constructed quickly and safely thanks to the use of pulling lines made from lightweight, high-strength Dyneema® ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber.

URMOND (NL), 2 August 2010- Protective suit specialist TST Sweden has signed a licensing agreement with fiber manufacturer DSM Dyneema that will enable them to use the Dutch company’s distinctive trademark on their multilayer water-jet protective suits made with the ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene Dyneema® fiber.

URMOND (NL), 7 July 2010 - Use of Dyneema® ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber is helping to ensure that a major construction project to bring clean energy to millions of people in the U.K. moves ahead as efficiently and safely as possible. The world’s largest offshore wind farm is under construction in the North Sea, 23 km off the coast of England. Scheduled for completion in 2012, the Greater Gabbard wind farm’s 140 turbines will generate 500 megawatts of electricity for the people of London.
