Bergen op Zoom - September 2003 - Based on growing demand for ready to cook; freezer to microwave meals, a number of exciting new products and technologies have just been created to address the increasing market for more aesthetically versatile, cost efficient, and environmentally sensitive materials.
BERGEN OP ZOOM—June 23, 2003—Black and white may seem like primary colors to the general populace, but in the exclusive world of product designers these colors are the next “hot” trend. According to a 2003 color and effects guide developed for GE Plastics by design and strategy consultancy Polymer Solutions Inc., a joint venture between industry design giant Fitch Richardson Smith, Inc., and GE, black and white -- plus all the variations on each -- will be a key consumer product design element over the next year. Responding to this trend, GE Plastics unveiled a new dark and light palette for its Visualfx™ resin portfolio that includes new Earth Elements, Glacial Elements, Alliage™ resin effect and Tempulse™ resin effect. 
Cincinnati Extrusion GmbH, Vienna, Austria, has just received the largest order in its history. Dalian Shide Plastic Industry Co., which has already been a customer of the Austrian machine manufacturer for a number of years, has now ordered 165 new extruders. Dalian Shide plans to extend its production capacity to more than one million tons, and thus to become the world’s number one manufacturer of plastics profiles.
New polyamide grade rounds out DSM’s flagship product family, brings mouldability as well as high heat and warp resistance to electronics and other demanding applications.
Distrupol has announced the establishment of sales offices to serve Spain and Portugal. This latest development is a substantial investment and represents a significant expansion of Distrupol’s operational area. While part of the company’s planned long-term business strategy in Europe, it’s timing coincides with a surge in polymer demand in these markets.
