Distrupol adds new reach to its European operations

Distrupol has announced the establishment of sales offices to serve Spain and Portugal. This latest development is a substantial investment and represents a significant expansion of Distrupol’s operational area. While part of the company’s planned long-term business strategy in Europe, it’s timing coincides with a surge in polymer demand in these markets.

Already a leading polymer distributor, technical service provider and application development partner in northern Europe, principally UK, Benelux, France and the Nordic countries, Distrupol is now poised to extend its reach into southern Europe.

According to François du Passage, Managing Director of Distrupol in France and the director co-ordinating geographical roll-out: “Univar already has a significant local presence in these countries where it is a market leader in chemical sales and distribution. Distrupol will establish itself by leveraging these resources and considerable experience to achieve a foothold in the marketplace. This is a model that we have successfully employed before, for example in Ireland. Key is that from the outset we will have polymer distribution professionals in-place. Heading up our teams on the ground will be Jorge Coutinho, Commercial Director for Spain and Portugal.

During the introductory stage of sales expansion, technical assistance and logistical support to the new territories will be provided by Distrupol’s highly developed service operations in bordering countries.

“With the growth we are seeing in these markets,” says du Passage, “the immediate benefit we are able to bring to OEMs and processors is a broadening in choice of materials to better satisfy application needs. We are able to offer a fully comprehensive range of Distrupol branded engineering compounds, as well as ABS, in addition to other branded products from leading producers.

“Moreover, our integrated technical support package is second-to-none and represents substantial added value, particularly for small to medium processors,” he says.

Distrupol’s reach the Iberian Peninsula, which began on September 1, will be followed by a progressive roll-out of polymer distribution and technical services to those remaining European countries in which it does not yet have a presence.
