GE PLASTICS REINFORCES SUPPORT IN DRIVING INNOVATIVE PRODUCT DESIGN SOLUTIONS
BERGEN OP ZOOM— September 17, 2003 — In support of its services to the design community, GE Plastics worked with designafairs GmbH, one of Europe’s foremost design consultancies, to have a permanent state-of-the-art presentation at designafairs’ new Color and Materials Laboratory, which opened in Munich on September 17, 2003. This center of expertise brings together the leading technologies in materials, colors and effects to serve industrial designers in driving real design innovation in new and existing applications.
Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik GmbH, Bad Oeynhausen is the first manufacturer of extruders to introduce a new, innovative drive system for torque and screw speed control in all of its extruders. The most remarkable feature of these high-performance, so-called CMG compact drive motors is their reduced size compared to conventional cylindrical gear drive systems. 
The difficulties associated with materials exhibiting low surface energy such as polyethylene and polypropylene, are now to become a thing of the past with the launch of a new two-part adhesive from 3M that delivers a high strength structural bond on such plastics. This development has been customer-driven and comes as a direct result of designing to satisfy customer-identified criteria that allow greater production efficiency together with time and cost reductions.
The full range of Stamylan P polypropylene resins manufactured by SABIC is now being distributed throughout the Nordic region by Distrupol, a member company of Univar and leading polymer distributor, technical service provider and application development partner.
