PREVENT SIGNS UP TO DSM DYNEEMA’S LICENSING PROGRAM
URMOND (NL), October 23, 2009 - Prevent, the European based manufacturer of the Glassbeater range of high-end cut resistant clothing has joined DSM Dyneema’s Global Licensing Program for protective clothing.
Quadrant’s range of enhanced PTFE materials available in full production sizes has been broadened with the addition of two new grades: Fluorosint HPV and Fluorosint MT-01. FDA compliant Fluorosint HPV is a mica-filled high performance bearing grade that can deliver a pressure velocity (PV) performance improvement of more than 40 % over other PTFE materials according to in-house tests conducted by Quadrant.. Parts made of Fluorosint HPV can withstand higher load and velocity while delivering better wear resistance, enabling longer part life compared to existing FDA compliant PTFE-based materials. The product was especially developed to meet the demands of high performance bearing applications where other, low-tech PTFE formulations would exhibit premature wear or can not perform. These characteristics together with FDA compliancy for food and pharmaceutical applications open up interesting new options for engineers and manufacturers.

The new order follows a three year trial period of using Dyneema® based cage nets from major Norwegian manufacturer and official DSM Dyneema licensee MøreNot AS, which has yielded a range of performance, economic and environmental benefits.

Now, Sanshin Kako, one of the country’s leading professional-use tableware manufacturers, is using SABIC Innovative Plastics’ high-performance Valox iQ* 420 HP resin to deliver a more environmentally responsible product contributing to the three Rs: reduce, reuse and recycle. Not only do Sanshin Kako’s plastic chopsticks conserve natural resources, but each kilogram of this resin uses up to .87 kilograms of post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles, which would otherwise sit in the landfill. These chopsticks are available in vivid, custom colors, offer a smooth surface as compared to easily splintered wood, and represent SABIC Innovative Plastics’ commitment to the global development of new technologies that help their customers overcome today’s environmental challenges.
