Rotterdam, The Netherlands – May 1, 2004 – Univar Europe, a business unit of Univar N.V., the leading chemical distributor in the world, has been named a preferred distributor/supplier in Europe for DSM, the leading worldwide supplier of life science and nutritional products, performance materials and industrial chemicals. The contract builds on strongly optimising the Total Cost of Ownership and covers all European sites of DSM. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Hallcrest is a manufacturer and marketer of custom microencapsulation and liquid crystal technologies for the personal care, home care, oral care and food industries, with a broad customer base that includes multinational Fortune 100 companies as well as many other producers of finished products throughout the world. The Hallcrest headquarters is located in Poole, Dorset, United Kingdom.

KINGSPORT, Tenn., March 30, 2004 – Eastman Chemical Company (NYSE:EMN) today announced further steps toward strengthening its global copolyester manufacturing capabilities. Following consultations with the union and the employees at its Hartlepool, England site, Eastman has decided to close that site and consolidate production to other facilities. Eastman said while it has ample capacity from multiple production lines at other sites to meet current customer needs, it is also preparing to meet future market growth by initiating plans to increase its copolyester manufacturing capacity at its headquarters site in Kingsport, Tenn.
