Connectors for the many harnesses in one manufacturer’s systems are made of Stanyl® polyamide 4,6 (PA46), taking advantage of the cost effectiveness, design freedom, heat resistance, dimensional stability, stiffness and durability of Stanyl grades.

PPG Reports its 13th Consecutive Quarterly Sales Record
(August 18, 2006 Shanghai)Recently, PPG Industries Inc., the world’s leading diversified manufacturer headquartered in Pittsburgh, reported record sales and earnings for the second quarter of fiscal year 2006. The company realized net income of USD280 million on sales revenue of USD2.8 billion for the quarter, a year-on-year (Y-o-Y) growth of 21% and 6% respectively. During the quarter, in addition to the strong sales earnings growth, PPG was able to achieve higher margins of 14.5% from 14.1% despite an environment in which the chlor-alkali cycle, home building and North American auto manufacturing are approaching declines and higher raw material costs.

Unsurpassed protection for ships, aircraft and land vehicles, including multi-hit capabilities, flame retardance and heat resistance, can be obtained by using Dyneema® HB26. Further, the new material is exceptionally lightweight – it cuts handling time in half and speeds up production. Dyneema® HB26 will be commercially available in June 2006.
DSM, the largest manufacturer of high performance polyethylene (HPPE) fiber in the world, today announces its decision to make another investment in a new production line for Dyneema® fiber in Greenville, North Carolina (USA). It is the third announcement this year of new Dyneema® fiber production lines at DSM’s Greenville site, following earlier decisions to build two additional fiber lines and one Dyneema® UD (UniDirectional bullet resistant sheet) line.
