Following the successful introduction in 2007 of Stanyl® Diablo OCD2100, a high performance grade of Stanyl for under-the-bonnet (UTB) applications, DSM has introduced new Diablo high heat resins: Stanyl Diablo® OCD2300 and Akulon Diablo® injection and blow molding grades. These products are a direct response to some of the main trends in the automotive industry, including weight reduction. The new materials also facilitate system cost optimizations and productivity gains, long term sustainability and reduced environmental impact.

DSM Engineering Plastics has launched a unique new material that can make a significant contribution to air quality. Akulon® Fuel Lock, a mono-polyamide 6 technology, dramatically reduces evaporative emissions from the fuel tanks of non-road outdoor equipment and vehicles with small, spark-ignition engines. In fact, tests of a tank with a nominal 2 mm wall thickness molded from Akulon Fuel Lock showed an exceptionally low evaporative emission rate less than 20 percent of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulation limit.

Lyon, France – December 13, 2010 ---- Rhodia is announcing the upcoming launch of polyamide (PA) powders for rapid prototyping and small series manufacturing by selective laser sintering (SLS). This is the first time that PA 6 powders are offered for direct part fabrication by SLS. The range will be extended to include PA 66 powders in the coming months.

DSM has announced its intention to increase prices for its Akulon® PA6 and PA66 compounds. This increase, which will be effective immediately, is to offset continued escalations in the costs of key raw materials.
